Home Services Fractional CFO

A CFO who builds the value of your company.

A Founder’s Accounting™ fractional CFO gives founder-led companies with $1M to $100M in revenue executive financial leadership, value creation consulting and fundraising support, on its own or as part of Tier 3.

Illustration of a strategic compass pointing toward growth

The biggest financial decisions often get made without a CFO in the room.

Should you raise now or wait? Hire ahead of growth or behind it? Expand into a new market, launch a new product or cut costs? These decisions shape the company for years, and most founder-led companies make them without an experienced financial strategist.

A full-time CFO is one of the most expensive hires a growing company can make, and the search can take months. So founders wait, and make the big calls on instinct and incomplete numbers.

What it costs you

Decisions on instinct

Without a financial model, big bets rely on gut feel.

Value left on the table

Without a plan, the work that builds enterprise value never gets prioritized.

Weaker fundraising

Investors expect a CFO-quality model and story.

A costly hire

A full-time CFO means a major salary, equity and a long search.

What does a fractional CFO do?

A fractional CFO is an experienced chief financial officer who works with your company part-time, guiding strategy, forecasting, cash and capital decisions without the cost of a full-time executive.

You can engage a Founder’s Accounting™ fractional CFO on their own, or as part of Tier 3, where your CFO also leads a complete finance team. The scope is the same either way. Standalone fractional CFO hourly rates are higher than the rate within Tier 3.

Every engagement begins with the Value Creation Assessment™. From there, your CFO leads value creation consulting: setting goals, working the plan with you each month and updating your valuation range each year, supported by the Value Creation Network™ of fractional executives and capital relationships.

Your CFO also works with your CPA on tax preparation and tax planning, and acts as your intermediary with qualified business brokers, capital allocators and investment bankers when you raise capital. Two ways to work with a fractional CFO.

On its own. Your fractional CFO leads strategy, value creation consulting and fundraising support for your company, working with the finance staff and CPA you already have. Your engagement is a fixed monthly fee based on 10 hours per week, so you can budget with confidence. If a week needs more, additional hours are billed at the hourly rate, and only with your approval.

Inside Tier 3. Your CFO leads a complete Founder’s Accounting™ finance department: bookkeeping, AP, AR and payroll, FP&A, a fractional controller and a custom specialist. See Tier 3.

Standalone fractional CFO hourly rates are higher than the rate within Tier 3. Ask us how the two compare for your company.

Questions? Answers.

Do you offer fractional CFO services on their own?

Yes. You can engage a fractional CFO on their own, with the same scope as the CFO in Tier 3, or as part of Tier 3, where your CFO also leads a complete finance team. Standalone fractional CFO hourly rates are higher than the rate within Tier 3.

How is a fractional CFO priced?

Your engagement is a fixed monthly fee based on 10 hours per week, so you can budget with confidence. If a week needs more, additional hours are billed at the hourly rate, and only with your approval. We share pricing after a short discovery call.

Why does every engagement start with an assessment?

So your CFO starts with facts, not assumptions. The Value Creation Assessment™ identifies the threats and competitive gaps in your business and turns your goals into a roadmap. Its fee is scaled to your company’s size and complexity.

When should I hire a fractional CFO?

Every member of your C-suite should bring skills that complement the others. A fractional CFO should feel like adding a teammate with the strengths you’re missing. As we track your goals, we’ll also tell you when a full-time, in-house CFO makes sense.

How does a fractional CFO support fundraising?

Your CFO prepares investor-ready models, metrics and pitch decks, supports diligence, and acts as your intermediary with qualified business brokers, capital allocators and investment bankers. Founder’s Accounting™ does not take a fee or commission on any capital raise or transaction. Fundraising support is billed hourly for time beyond your allocated 10 hours per week. Any business broker, capital allocator or investment banker works under their own separate agreement with your company.

Can we add a finance team later?

Yes. Many companies start with a fractional CFO and move into Tier 3 when they’re ready for a complete finance team. Within Tier 3, the CFO’s hourly rate is lower.
